Examine Yourself

Have you ever noticed that it's so much easier for people to find fault with you rather than themselves? In our society, it has become increasingly rare to find someone who is willing to look into the mirror and examine himself instead of everyone else. Because of this, our hearts have become hardened to criticism, relationships, love, and the things of God. Although this is unfortunate, there is something more important than how anyone else sees you, and that is how God sees you. To find out how He sees you, examine yourself by the 10 Commandments. Commandment #9 says, "Do not lie." How many lies have you told? Are there too many to count? Commandment #3 says, "Do not take God's name in vain." Have you done that? Commandment #8 says, "Do not steal." Have you ever stolen? If you've done these things, you've sinned against a holy God, and He sees you as a lying, blasphemer and a thief. Here's the frightening part—you have to face this holy God when you die. Hopefully you now understand why it's so important to notice how God sees you? Something else you must consider is that God requires perfection to dwell with Him for eternity. Since you've sinned against Him, you've missed the mark, and thus you will spend eternity in hell, as the just punishment for your sins against Him. Although this is tragic, there is hope. Two thousand years ago, God the Father sent His Son Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, to this earth. He lived the perfect life that you could not live. He was nailed to a cross, shed His blood, and was crucified for sinners. Three days later, He rose from the dead defeating sin and death. As a result, you can have your sins forgiven and inherit eternal life, but you must be "born again" (Jn. 3:3). Being born again is a supernatural work that only God can do when He transforms your heart and gives you new desires. Once you are born again, God will enable you to repent (turn from your sins) and place your faith in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. Read John 14:6. www.EvangelismTeam.com
