Imagine the excitement of having your name called from the audience as you run to your post to bid on the next prize? It just so happens you're the closest bidder and now you're given the opportunity to win $25,000 if you can prove you're a good person. You take the stage with confidence assured that you'll be driving home $25,000 richer. You're told that you'll be asked a series of questions to see if you are truly a good person. Here are the questions. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vain (this is called blasphemy)? If you have done these things, then by your own admission, you're a lying thief and a blasphemer. On top of that, you've sinned against God by breaking His Law (the 10 Commandments). The Bible says, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb. 9:27). When you die, you will stand before God and be judged by His perfect Law, the 10 Commandments. On that day, and even now, will you be innocent or guilty of violating God's Law? Based on that confession, will you go to heaven or hell? The Bible says that all liars, thieves and blasphemers will go to hell. Although this is tragic, there is good news! The Bible says, "God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8). Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) took upon Himself the wrath and judgment you deserve for breaking God's Law and sinning against Him. He did this when He shed His innocent blood as He died on the cross. Three days later, He rose from the dead forever defeating death. As a result of Jesus Christ's shed blood, death and resurrection, your sins can be forgiven and you can inherit eternal life if you will repent (turn from your sins) and, by faith, receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
